Assembly of the Federation of European Directors in Warsaw

By the unanimous decision of the FERA Assembly: The Association of Montenegrin Producers and Directors has been accepted in this representative professional association of European directors. On the just finished Federation of European Directors Assembly (FERA) in Warsaw (14 – 16 September, 2018), in the presence of  delegates from more than 30 European countries, as well as about 40 professional associations of directors, by unanimous decision – Montenegro became a member of this representative European association in the field of film directing. Thus the Montenegrin Association of Film Directors and Producers received important European confirmation and an equal vote in the FERA Assembly. On the position of the honorable president – the Federation was presided by Sir Alen Parker whose films received dozens of Oscars and 18 BAFTA awards. In the Council of the Federation, sit such directors as István Szabó, Agnieszka Holland, and Marco Bellocchio. In the FERA Executive Council, there are two directors from Balkans: Hrvoje Ribar (Croatia) and Klemen Dvornik (Slovenia) – with their help and support, Montenegro was accepted in this organization as the third country from Ex-Yugoslavia territory (Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina are in the process of applying). In the FERA Assembly, Montenegro will be represented by Nikola Vukčević in the mandate of a delegate. FERA was founded in 1980, and in order to have a better communication with the European Parliament legislation it is now seated in Brussels. Over the last month, because of the FERA activities in European Parliament, series of amendments have been adopted in the field of film direction for the very important Copyright Law, and the president of the Montenegrin Association of Film Producers and Directors, Ivan Đurović, took part in this initiative of adopting the law. This year’s assembly in Warsaw (held in Polish Film Institute), besides adopting usual annual statutory documents had also been dealing with series of important decisions about issues in the domain of global trends, including practices of the financial state of affairs through the online exploitation of films. A distinct panel was dedicated to the renowned Polish director Agnieszka Holland, in her presence – which was focused on her experiences in different creative and production areas: European film, Hollywood, HBO etc. For us in Montenegro, becoming a member of this representative European federation means acknowledgment for everything that we as an association, as well as individual members had done in the previous time period, but it was also an important opportunity for further professing our directorial and production issues in the future. We’re thankful to Montenegrin Film Center that supports the work of our Association, and we owe a great gratitude to our directors from Croatia and Slovenia – it is stated by the Montenegrin Association of Film Producers and Directors. http://www.filmdirectors.eu/ Photos from the assembly – https://www.facebook.com/pg/filmdirectors.fera/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2366120520069499
